MA: Campground proposed dividing into house lots

(June 29, 2018) -- The owner of a 39-acre parcel in the Cape Cod National Seashore that has been a campground for decades has proposed subdividing it into house lots.

TRURO, Mass. — The owner of a 39-acre parcel in the Cape Cod National Seashore that has been a campground for decades has proposed subdividing it into house lots.

One of two alternative preliminary plans for the former Horton’s campground shows 11 lots of 3 to 4.3 acres. The second plan shows 56 duplex units, each with six bedrooms, billed as a potential “affordable” housing development.

  1. Assessed value and market value can and often are two different amounts. Assessed value can be higher or lower than market value. Park Service should take it and decide if they would operate it as a CG or sell for any legal use. If I were younger or my children were interested, I’d buy a CG for them to own. There is going to be a site shortage for a long time.
