BILLINGS, Mont. — Kampgrounds of America announced today that people who pay to camp May 8 can stay over May 9 for just $10, and the $10 goes directly to support the company’s Care Camps program.
Care Camps is KOA initiative that sends children with cancer to specially-staffed summer camps so they can enjoy being kids outside of a hospital setting.
“For several years, we’ve come together to help amazing kids battling cancer experience a week where they can have fun and leave hospitals behind and our campers been a huge part of that,” said Mike Gast, vice president of communications. “This year, Care Camps Big Weekend has a little change that’s going to help these kids in an even bigger way.”
“KOA, the Care Camps Trust and the KOA Owners Association all felt that there was an opportunity to deepen the understanding about Care Camps among campers and raise an additional tens of thousands of dollars for the cause in one day by initiating the $10 fee on Saturday,” said Gast.
In the past, campers were invited to pay for the Friday night stay, and receive the Saturday night stay free.
“The entire $10 we’ll collect for the Saturday stay goes directly to the Care Camps Trust for distribution to the Care Camps,” said Gast. “Neither KOA or the KOA owners get any portion of that money, and no administrative fees are deducted as well. It’s all for the kids.”
“We invite our guests to join us again this year to help kids find a place where people understand and a place where they can just be kids,” he added.
