IN: Time stands still at Pine Hills Nature Preserve

(Oct. 19, 2017) -- Nature Preserves differ from Indiana’s state parks, in that the parks were designed as recreation areas; visitors are welcome to bring bicycles and canoes, and some parks offer picnic and camping facilities.

WAVELAND, Ind. — Indiana landscapes. Unspoiled. Pristine. Nature at its finest.

This is what greets visitors to Pine Hills Nature Preserve at Shades State Park, an hour south of Lafayette and just southwest of Crawfordsville.

Nature Preserves differ from Indiana’s state parks, in that the parks were designed as recreation areas; visitors are welcome to bring bicycles and canoes, and some parks offer picnic and camping facilities.
