SANTA PAULA, Calif. — Today, 16 months after Scott Cory, former vice president of company properties for KOA, Inc. in Billings, Mont., quit his job to open Ventura Ranch Resort KOA, his dream of glamor camping in Southern California is coming true, reported the Ventura County Star.
In addition to the ground’s 40 tent sites, there are 80 RV sites, many with premium patio sites with built-in barbecues, a large RV storage yard and four fully contained modular luxury lodges, complete with lofts and five high-end teepees.
Peter Placencia of Oxnard brought his wife and their four children for a weekend RV getaway close to home. The family plans to return and let the older kids get a teepee while the rest stay in the RV.
“It happens all the time,” Cory said. “Families will come to camp and leave with plans to have their kids’ birthday parties in the teepees. The parents can stay in a lodge or in an RV and the kids get the teepees. Everybody’s safe and happy. It’s perfect.”
