FORT MYERS, Fla. — The owners of a popular Fort Myers Beach RV park have mounted a last ditch effort to avoid having a large chunk of their property become part of the reconstructed Estero Boulevard.
“We do not want to go to court over this,” said Fran Myers, who with her husband Tom has owned the property for more than 30 years. “The county attorney has told us that if we lose we would be responsible for county attorneys and county expenses.”
The Myerses, who have owned the iconic Red Coconut RV Park facing the beach for more than 30 years, say the county’s plan to remove a curve in front of the park and install sidewalks and bike paths will mean they lose crucial spaces for parking larger recreational vehicles.
