(March 31, 2016) -- Lauderdale County Solid Waste Manager Robert Bevis, who also oversees the county’s two public parks, has been trying to find a park superintendent for the Wheeler Campgrounds on Alabama 101, near Joe Wheeler Dam. So far, he has not had any luck.

FLORENCE, Ala. — Lauderdale County Solid Waste Manager Robert Bevis is hoping an experiment will get him out of a jam.

Bevis, who also oversees the county’s two public parks, has been trying to find a park superintendent for the Wheeler Campgrounds on Alabama 101, near Joe Wheeler Dam. So far, he has not had any luck.

In the past that wasn’t an issue. A county employee lived only a few minutes up the road, and he operated the campground. However, that employee retired, leaving Bevis looking for a replacement.
