Division of Wildlife to take over two Colorado parks

(Feb. 25, 2011) -- Gov. John Hickenlooper proposed that Paonia State Park and Sweitzer Lake be "re-purposed" according to plans released last Thursday, so the current plan is to move management of the parks from Colorado State Parks to the Division of Wildlife, reported the Delta County Independent.

DELTA, Colo. — Gov. John Hickenlooper proposed that Paonia State Park and Sweitzer Lake be “re-purposed” according to plans released last Thursday, so the current plan is to move management of the parks from Colorado State Parks to the Division of Wildlife, reported the Delta County Independent.

This news comes as a relief for those fearing the two parks were doomed to closure.

The parks will likely be open for boating, fishing and hiking.
