NEW CITY, N.Y. — The married owners of an Orange County contracting company were charged with several felonies Monday after authorities accused them of failing to pay their employees a prevailing wage during a project at Harriman State Park. The news is reported by LoHud.com.
According to Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Zugibe, who is quoted by LoHud.com, the owners of Raw Power Electric CorpRomeo Warren, 45, and Lavern Glave, 46, of Middletown, are believed to have underpaid their workers by more than $28,000 during the five-month project in 2010.
During that time, the news report says the couple failed to properly pay their employees, in direct violation of New York State labor law, Zugibe said, adding that the couple then falsified payroll information submitted to the state to hide their crimes.
