Businesses want campsite booking system reviewed

(Aug. 20, 2015) -- Businesses in the Meadow Lake and Kimball Lake area said aspects of the provincial government’s campsite booking system are “asinine” and they would like to see it abolished.

SASKATOON, SK — Businesses in the Meadow Lake and Kimball Lake area said aspects of the provincial government’s campsite booking system are “asinine” and they would like to see it abolished, The Star Phoenix reported.

Daniel Prete, who owns Renegade Recreation in Meadow Lake, claims he’s lost thousands in sales because the provincial park has seen less outside traffic, and he thinks the government’s online booking system may to be blame, The Star Phoenix reported.

The recent drop in sales translated into a loss of roughly $200,000 to $400,000, Prete told The Star Phoenix, adding something should be done to ensure the booking website is more user-friendly.
