Big Meadows in San Luis Valley, Colo. closed for summer

(May 31, 2010) -- The San Luis Valley Public Lands Center in Colorado will be making improvements to 37 Forest Service campgrounds, picnic areas and trailheads with the help of funds obtained through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

SOUTH FORK, Colo. — The San Luis Valley Public Lands Center will be making improvements to 37 Forest Service campgrounds, picnic areas and trailheads with the help of funds obtained through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, reports the South Fork Tines.

According to the newspaper, Big Meadows Campground will be closed for the entire season as the water system is being replaced, hazard trees are being removed and some of the campsites are being reconstructed.
