CALGARY, Alberta — Cushy camping in Alberta is attracting an increasingly bigger tent of devotees.
The province said a record 847 bookings were made for the plusher form of wilderness outings when reservations opened last Monday.
Accommodations at seven Alberta provincial parks and campgrounds include yurts, cabins, and upscale canvas tents.
“They’ve been gaining in popularity since we’ve been promoting them,” said Tim Chamberlin, spokesman for Alberta Environment and Parks.
“For newcomers to Canada or those who don’t have the equipment, it might be the way to be introduced to camping in Alberta.”
