GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. — With the cut of the ribbon, Lake Guntersville State Park proudly opened its new multi-use venue, The Gathering Place, this morning.
The new building replaces a similar facility that was destroyed by a tornado on April 27, 2011.
“It was a place that really brought the campground community together. And it was a special place. And we lost that when the storm hit the campground. And that was devastating, and it’s taken us many years to put this back in the campground.” said Greg Lein, Director of Alabama State Parks.
