(July 24, 2014) -- A tornado touched down at a campground on the Chesapeake Bay, Va. on Thursday morning killing at least two people and injuring 20 more.

2 dead after tornado at Chesapeake Bay campground

CHERITON, Va. — Virginia State Police told WBTV in addition to at least two dead there are at least 20 others who were injured. The Eastville volunteer fire department earlier confirmed three people were dead at the Cherrystone Family Camping & RV Resort in rural Northampton County.

Northampton officials declared a local emergency saying the county is “facing a condition of extreme peril.” WBTV reported a National Weather Service storm team is headed to the area to survey the damage.
