Regulators adopt new attitudes toward financing by Bernie
Excellent recap of what is happening to us!
It's Tax Day -- Let's party like we work for GSA! by Joseph Bullyan
I consider myself a reasonably smart human being, but no matter how much I read about this government and how f'd up it is no one seams to have the answers. Can anyone tell me what else I can do, as a hard working American who is sick to his stomach, besides vote, because that isn't enough. I know the problem, tell me the answer. My thought is it will take someone with the biggest set of balls known to mankind to clean house. Looking for some answers, and I am all ears

And we wonder why our budget is out of control?!!? OMG!!!! We are to blame though - we keep electing the same members to the most exclusive country club in the world! They are exempt from most laws, get everything paid for by the taxpayer and are set for life - while we just keep struggling to pay them for that luxury!
Worse, our two presidential candidates will raise over half a BILLION Dollars to convince us to vote for them! Actually worse - we'll contribute to them and elect them!
Shame on us little people - we really are the silent majority!
Australia, Europe, China . . . . pick two! by Tony
It would be interesting to know what the Board members that didn't vote yes on going into China thought and are they RV mfg. or suppliers? If any of them are suppliers they must have all their products made there already!
Australia, Europe, China . . . . pick two! by Bob Zagami
As a follow-up on this discussion, there was a very interesting article in the Washington Post last week and it was reprinted in the Boston Sunday Globe this past weekend. The article is titled: "China may buy only domestic cars for official use."

You can read the article at: http://b.globe.com/GTIu6A

Many of the comments at the Post and Globe indicate that there is nothing wrong with a country doing this - and I agree with them. We do the same thing here in America at the federal and state level everyday. However, in America we do not tell people what kind of RV they can buy or tell companies what kind of RV they can make. Do we think for a minute that the conditions noted in the article about the American manufacturers partnering with Chinese companies and building better products, would see similar dictates from the Chinese government should a similar fate bestow them with RV manufacturing over there?

Don't forget folks, this is China we are talking about here, not America. I think the Chinese government will do whatever it wants to do when it comes to helping themselves and hurting others. This article could be an indication of what could happen to American RV manufacturers should they partner with Chinese companies only to see 100% Chinese companies being pumped up by the Chinese government.

As always, Bob has done his homework and presents a great editorial. I just can't see any benefit to having anything to do with The "China" Connection. I can't think of any Industry that has actually "benefited" it's American workers by joining with China.
An American purchaser of an RV has multiple choices of types, options and price already! Why add an Asian Product to that mix - that will only hurt American made products - as it always has in the past.
High tech products are mass produced and need to change rapidly, due to our incessant demand for the latest and greatest. I don't see that really happening with RV's - so why are we going there anyway??
Besides, if a Chinese person needs an RV, let them buy American, for a change!
Australia, Europe, China . . . . pick two! by Barry Hughes
Bob, you’re right on!

The Chinese government cannot be trusted and they abuse their people terribly. If an RV manufacture decides to “dance” with a partner in China, it will be the fire dance, and it won’t be China that gets burned!

Is Facebook Truly a Social Part of Our Lives? by Carl Sconnely on Wednesday, May 16, 2012

With all of the buzz about the new “Facebook” initial public offering or IPO, I started to dig a little deeper into my own personal usage of this online media. I use the term online media instead of social network because I’m not convinced that people are really socializing  when using these networks. When I socialize with friends and family, our topics range from things that happened in the past, current events and what the future will bring.  Depending on whom I am with, the boundaries and privacy of the conversation can expand or contract.  Who or what we ...

Tax loophole costs taxpayers billions by Greg Gerber on Thursday, May 10, 2012

(May 10, 2012) -- Indianapolis TV station WTHR has dropped a bombshell of a report concerning Indiana illegal workers who are collecting millions of dollars in tax refunds by claiming nieces and nephews living in Mexico as dependents. The reporter even interviewed the IRS inspector general who admitted he has been telling the agency about the problem for years, yet nothing is ever done. The report cites the address of one mobile home being used on tax returns claiming four families live there with 20 children. However, the station gets the resident of the home to admit that not...

Maximum Value in Technical Capacity by Chuck Marzahn on Wednesday, May 09, 2012

Well... It finally happened.  I have seen more than a couple of stores with more revenue in the shop than from sales of units.  Wow, huh!?  I’ve spent a lot of time mouthing words into dealers’ ears that they don’t have enough technical capacity; that is, too few techs.  Not having enough techs can cause a whole raft of issues.  I regularly hear complaints from dealers who don’t want to invest more in technical capacity.  Who’d have thought that the point would be made by the lack of sales in the recent downturn?

Regulators adopt new attitudes toward financing by Guest Blogger on Monday, May 07, 2012

(May 7, 2012) --  Recently, we attended a two-hour meeting where regulators and consumer advocate group attorneys were discussing the current and future state of the regulation of lenders. One of the key speakers, complete with power points, spewed forth on all the reasons that those that lend are going to hell when the regulators are done with them and they are allowed to die. With that understanding and realization, lenders should be better prepared to consider what their defensive posture should be.

It's Tax Day -- Let's party like we work for GSA! by Greg Gerber on Tuesday, April 17, 2012

(April 17, 2012) -- Here it is, April 17, Tax Day in America. It's the day working Americans have to settle their accounts with the government who already gave out a boat load of money and other entitlements to people who chose not to work. In December, Senator Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) issued a paper that outlined the most wasteful examples of government spending of the year. More importantly, are you paying your "fair share?"

Australia, Europe, China . . . . pick two! by Bob Zagami on Thursday, March 22, 2012

During the past week I have had wonderful conversations with Jim Ashurst, Craig Kirby and Wilbur Botranger on the recent RVIA decision to open an office in China.  Through the years we have been, and continue to be, very vocal against any engagement with a company that does not respect America, does not respect its people, and plays by a different set of rules than most civilized nations.

The Chinese even knock off websites by Greg Gerber on Thursday, March 22, 2012

(March 22, 2012) -- This morning, I received an e-mail from a company in Anhui, China. They claimed to be a network service company representing another company called TianHua Company. TianHua was planning to register a domain I once owned, but with the .cn extension. They were staking claim to www.americasrvmall.com.cn. Although I no longer own the domain www.americasrvmall.com, the fact that the Chinese are seeking to register similar names with a .cn extension leads me to believe they are going to start holding American companies hostage in cyberspace. Imagine the chaos that would be creat...

Should the RV industry embrace China? by Greg Gerber on Monday, March 19, 2012

A few weeks ago, the RV Industry Association announced it was opening an office in China. According to an official press release submitted by RVIA March 6, "The office will coordinate the association’s efforts to work with Chinese governmental agencies and the country’s developing RV and campground industries to remove regulatory barriers impeding the United States RV industry’s growth in China." Impeding the RV industry's growth in China? For some reason, I think it will work the other way around. The office will be a communications portal to ensuring that Chinese goods a...
