Regulators adopt new attitudes toward financing
Excellent recap of what is happening to us! by Bernie
It's Tax Day -- Let's party like we work for GSA!
I consider myself a reasonably smart human being, but no matter how much I read about this government and how f'd up it is no one seams to have the answers. Can anyone tell me what else I can do, as a hard working American who is sick to his stomach, besides vote, because that isn't enough. I know the problem, tell me the answer. My thought is it will take someone with the biggest set of balls known to mankind to clean house. Looking for some answers, and I am all ears by Joseph Bullyan
It's Tax Day -- Let's party like we work for GSA!
And we wonder why our budget is out of control?!!? OMG!!!! We are to blame though - we keep electing the same members to the most exclusive country club in the world! They are exempt from most laws, get everything paid for by the taxpayer and are set for life - while we just keep struggling to pay them for that luxury!Worse, our two presidential candidates will raise over half a BILLION Dollars to convince us to vote for them! Actually worse - we'll contribute to them and elect them!Shame on us ... by Bernie
Australia, Europe, China . . . . pick two!
It would be interesting to know what the Board members that didn't vote yes on going into China thought and are they RV mfg. or suppliers? If any of them are suppliers they must have all their products made there already! by Tony
Australia, Europe, China . . . . pick two!
As a follow-up on this discussion, there was a very interesting article in the Washington Post last week and it was reprinted in the Boston Sunday Globe this past weekend. The article is titled: "China may buy only domestic cars for official use." You can read the article at: http://b.globe.com/GTIu6A Many of the comments at the Post and Globe indicate that there is nothing wrong with a country doing this - and I agree with them. We do the same thing here in America at the federal and state ... by Bob Zagami
Australia, Europe, China . . . . pick two!
As always, Bob has done his homework and presents a great editorial. I just can't see any benefit to having anything to do with The "China" Connection. I can't think of any Industry that has actually "benefited" it's American workers by joining with China. An American purchaser of an RV has multiple choices of types, options and price already! Why add an Asian Product to that mix - that will only hurt American made products - as it always has in the past. High tech products are mass produced and ... by Bernie
Australia, Europe, China . . . . pick two!
Bob, you’re right on!

The Chinese government cannot be trusted and they abuse their people terribly. If an RV manufacture decides to “dance” with a partner in China, it will be the fire dance, and it won’t be China that gets burned!

The Chinese even knock off websites
I don't see a major problem with it.I just type the name then hit Ctrl & Enter and it goes to the dot com.Can not see why I would even type dot com then dot cn. by Wayne
The Chinese even knock off websites
This trick happens in all countries. Not limitied to China. It's cyber siting and tech it is illegal but that doesn't stop anyone from doing it.

If you are building a "brand" you often want to buy every version of your domain. Because even if you can get all of those domains back with the law from the people sitting on them it is just safer to own them all up front if you can.

Point of clarification from Jim this morning, the China Committee vote was unanimous but the Board of Directors vote was not.

Also, the sentence in the third pargraph from the bottom should have read, "We will continue to monitor China, not to prove somebody wrong, but to honestly report the information we get on the abuses we expect to see despite the best laid plans of RVIA." by Bob Zagami

Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation (FCCC) SL Series chassis offers outstanding power and performance

By Tony Sippel, RV product manager at Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation

Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation (FCCC) recently unveiled at the 2011 National RV Trade Show the newest addition to its RV product line, the FCCC SL Series chassis. In offering the first and only Class A motorhome chassis equipped with the Detroit DD13® engine, FCCC brings unmatched power and performance to the RV industry, without sacrificing the handling and reliability RV enthusiasts have come to expect.

The FCCC SL Series chassis comes standard with a ZF independent front suspension, which allows for a 60-degree maximum wheel cut; an Allison 4000 MH transmission; and Bendix® ADB22X™ air disc brakes, which provide a shorter stopping distance than traditional foundation drum brakes. Combined with the DD13 engine, the FCCC SL Series offers a premium chassis unmatched in the motorhome market.

The Detroit DD13, manufactured by FCCC sister company Detroit, is a 13-liter, inline six-cylinder diesel engine capable of reaching 500 hp and of generating 1,650 ft-lb torque at 1,200 RPM. For RV drivers, that high torque at low RPM translates to more pulling power with less stress on the engine.

The DD13 also offers improved fuel economy, outstanding reliability and ease of service.

The BlueTec® Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) emissions technology, which is proven to meet long-term EPA 2010 emissions requirements by dramatically reducing nitrous oxide (NOx), plays a significant part in reducing fuel consumption. Fuel economy is further improved by a cooling system that allows for decreased fan on-time and the Amplified Common Rail System (ACRS™) of fuel injection, which optimizes the fuel delivery within the engine for the most efficient performance. As a result, RV owners will find their DD13 engine achieves up to 7 percent improved fuel economy than a comparable 2007 EPA engine.

The DD13 raises the reliability bar, too, as illustrated by the industry’s longest service intervals, during which motorhome enthusiasts will be able to cover a lot of territory.

Detroit recommends 35,000 miles or 12 months between engine oil and filter changes, and the same interval for fuel filter changes. The DD13 shouldn’t require its initial valve lash adjustment until the 100,000-mile mark, with another recommended at 500,000 miles. The Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) pump filter changing interval is 175,000 miles.

And when it comes to serviceability, the DD13 sets new RV industry standards there, too, starting with Detroit’s Virtual Technician, which links a high-definition Global Positioning System (GPS) technology with onboard engine diagnostics. If the RV’s “check engine” light comes on, the Virtual Technician automatically contacts the Detroit Customer Support Center, where a team of  service advisors determines the exact problem based on the fault code information that the Virtual Technician transmits. With this information, customer support determines the best and most convenient way to resolve the problem.

The RV driver then receives the necessary information, along with options for authorized service outlets and the opportunity to schedule a repair. The Virtual Technician also lets the chosen service outlet know which parts are needed to make the RV owner’s visit as smooth and expedient as possible. Speaking of parts, the RV model of the DD13 is practically identical to the truck model, which means parts availability shouldn’t be an issue.

By providing fast, detailed and accurate data, the Virtual Technician reduces potential downtime and eliminates unnecessary repair referrals, making any repair stops smooth and efficient.

FCCC is excited to offer the RV industry’s only Class A motorhome chassis equipped with the DD13, pushing the limits of RV chassis possibilities again and expanding premium RV choices for enthusiasts.
