(Aug. 10, 2010) -- Minutes of the planning board’s show that Keshler's plan was ineligible for a special use permit because campgrounds are only permitted in the B3 Business District. However, the Dispatch discovered that village zoning codes show that campgrounds are a permissible use in the zone Keshler planned to build the park.

(Aug. 10, 2010) -- Day use is up 5 percent at New York's 178 state parks and 35 historic sites between April 1 and July 31. However, public campgrounds have not seen the same increases. Camping at state parks has flattened out after a boost in 2009, the Post Star reported, but many private campgrounds with amenities can hardly keep up with demand.

(Aug. 10, 2010) -- The fair board originally requested permission to create an RV park in the northeast corner of Fonner Park. The board had hoped to install water, sewer and electrical service at each site before the fair opened Aug. 27. However, wet weather has prevented construction from taking place according to schedule, the Grand Island Independent reported.

(Aug. 9, 2010) -- On the River RV Park has been operating on the land since 1990 under a lease agreement with Steve Birkinbine, AP noted. When the lease was originally signed, county officials said their intention was that the land be used for short-term use by vacationers and others. But up to 100 RV sites are now rented by permanent residents paying Birkinbine $405 a month.
