TULALIP, Wash. -- Three people were injured Tuesday after a propane tank exploded at the Port Susan Camping Club grounds on the Tulalip Indian Reservation, the Everett Herald reported.
A 70-year-old woman was airlifted to a hospital and her son was taken by ambulance to a burn center. A neighbor who tried to come to their aid with a garden hose was taken to another hospital, the paper reported.
Rob Johnson, deputy chief of the Tulalip Fire District, said the fire occurred in a travel trailer that had a one-room addition. The trailer was destroyed along with a car and storage shed, he said.
Park manager Donald Franks told the Everett Herald the mother and son did not appear to be seriously injured. "I didn't see two people with massive burns to them," he said. "I saw people who looked scorched. There is no doubt about it."
