ERIE, Penn. -- Erie County Sheriff's Office deputies could begin evicting residents of Moon Meadows Campground today after a judge denied a request to delay enforcing an order to close the campground because sewer improvements were not completed, the Erie Times-News reported.
The decision could impact more than 100 residents, including 26 people who live full-time at the campground.
Erie County Judge Shad Connelly denied the requests because campground owner Thomas Peckham has made little or no attempt to comply with previous court orders to fix the campground's sewage problems, the paper reported.
The issue begain in June 2009 when a county health inspector cited the campground for multiple violations at Moon Meadows, including puddles of raw sewage and substandard septic work done without permits.
