SHAKOPEE, Minn. -- The National Weather Service office announced today the Minnesota River in Shakopee will likely crest at 716.7 feet on Tuesday.
As a result of the flooding, Chaska Public Works Superintendent Tim Wiebe told the Shakopee Valley News expected Highway 101 in Shakopee to close Saturday or Sunday. Flooding may also close Highway 41.
Shakopee Police Captain Jeff Tate said Thursday afternoon that the Shakopee Valley RV Park campground is under water. The city is preparing to turn off power to Huber Park, where minor flooding is expected.
Sandbagging will begin Friday morning to protect Valley Haven Mobile Home Park from potential flooding.

Fox 9 reported that low-lying areas in Ft. Snelling State Park have become flooded and are closed. Officials said the main park road may be underwater by the weekend, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. If that occurs, the entire park will be closed to the public until further notice, the station reported.
Officials installed concrete flood barriers along Harriet Island in St. Paul in preparation for flooding along the Mississippi River near downtown St. Paul.
