RESTON, Va. -- The top 64 qualifying Professional Bowling Association (PBA) bowlers are competing this weekend in the 4th Annual Go RVing Match Play Championship, held at the Norwich Bowling and Entertainment Center, Norwich, Conn.
Qualifying rounds were held Wednesday to narrow the field to 64 bowlers. The tournament's final match will be televised live on ESPN on Sunday, March 21 at 1 p.m. to an anticipated 4.4 million viewing households.
Go RVing’s sponsorship of the tournament includes three 30-second ad spots, on-screen billboards, prominent lane signage that can be seen by multiple TV angles, and Go RVing branded pin-sweeps. In addition, Go RVing PBA team member Walter Ray Williams, Jr. will continue to prominently sport the Go RVing logo on his shirt and will play with a Go RVing spare ball. Williams has won 48 titles, the most in Tour history. He also holds the PBA’s career earnings record.
Williams, who has already won two titles this season, and last year’s Go RVing Match Play champion, Chris Barnes, are seeded one and four respectively for this year’s tournament.
Similar to the NCAA basketball championship’s rounds, bowlers are eliminated in a series of matches running Wednesday through Saturday until only two finalists remain. Those two finalists will square off for the $25,000 top prize in Sunday’s three-game finale on ESPN at 1 p.m. Eastern.
