SAN DIEGO -- Sacred Rocks Reserve will hold its second annual Geocaching Easter Egg Hunt March 27, where parents and kids use handheld GPS navigation devices to find hidden treasures outdoors. They'll even provide a refresher course on GPS navigation.
The refresher course starts at 9 a.m. and the Easter egg hunt takes place from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The event is open to families and children of all ages, but those under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Participants must bring their own hand held GPS receiver, and the staff warns an automobile GPS will not suffice. People are also advised to wear layers of clothing, bring hiking boots, snacks and/or sack lunch. Lunch will not be provided; however a hot dog roast and campfire is planned after event. Families may want to bring a camera, as a beautiful spring bloom has begun.
The cost is $8 per person, which includes entry, refresher GPS navigation course, Easter egg hunt, and food at the evening hotdog roast. Site fees for tent and RV campers or rental fee for cozy cabins are additional. RVs sites rent for $36 per night, tent sites for $18, cottages are $90 and bunkhouses are $10 per person. A 25 percent discount on camping fees is available for military families, retired or active duty, this event weekend only.
Reservations are recommended. For more information, people may call 619.766.4480 or e-mail sacredrocks@gmail.com.
