AUSTIN, Texas -- A fixture in the Austin recreational vehicle dealer community for almost a half century is no more.
Marshall’s Traveland, which underwent a glossy expansion earlier this decade and whose business began in the 1960s, closed and filed for terminal bankruptcy on Oct. 27.
The bankruptcy is noteworthy because the RV industry is a direct reflection of the economy, said Clark McEwen, director of the Texas RV Association.
While neighboring dealers said business in Texas is good on their lots, bankruptcy lawyer Michael Baumer said Marshall’s demise came after credit dried up and discretionary spending “went off a cliff.”
