(Dec. 31, 2009) -- If a hypothetical investor who believed in the RV industry invested $1,000 in each of the industry's publicly traded companies Jan. 2, he would have invested a total of $11,000. Today, those stocks would be worth $25,110.51.

(Dec. 31, 2009) -- Under new rules that took effect earlier this fall, the Fort Pierre grasslands are now closed to travel other than on the designated road system. In addition to that existing system, 18 new seasonal roads have been designated to provide access to key fishing areas and prairie dog towns.

(Dec. 31, 2009) -- The new ordinance prohibits parking RVs and other oversized vehicles larger than 25 feet long, 6 feet 8 inches wide or 6 feet 10 inches tall on any public street in Thousand Oaks between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

(Dec. 31, 2009) -- About 60 percent of Apache Palms RV Park guests use the light rail system, said Stafford. She said several of them choose her park specifically because it is on the line. The 80-site park operates at an average of 75 percent capacity year-round.

(Dec. 31, 2009) -- Mac Bryan, vice president of administration at the RVIA, said it's good news that shipments are slightly ahead of retail sales, because it indicates dealers are feeling confident sales will improve and they need to beef up inventory to meet an expected increase in demand.

(Dec. 31, 2009) -- Located south of Interstate 64 between state Route 20 and Old Lynchburg Road, the park is only minutes from downtown Charlottesville. The 1,200-acre parcel, which includes the Biscuit Run Creek, was originally going to be developed for residential use, but the project stalled because of the economic downturn.

(Dec. 30, 2009) -- Superintendent Joe Escoto announced today that the dog ban that has been in effect since Dec. 9 has been lifted. However, visitors choosing to bring their dogs to the national seashore may still be placing their dogs at risk for severe illness and potentially death.
