LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation (FCCC) today introduced its newest product for the RV market, the FCCC MC-L RV chassis.

Designed with a durable frame and updated driver station configuration, the MC-L Class A diesel motorhome chassis boasts greater fuel economy, enables more aerodynamic body designs and offers superior ride quality.

Powered by a Cummins ISB 6.7-liter electronic diesel engine with up to 200 horsepower and 520 foot pounds of torque with an Allison automatic six-speed transmission, the MC-L offers outstanding power and performance. An up to 50-degree wheel cut allows for superior maneuverability, assisting RV owners as they traverse through urban settings and tight spaces.

“Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation developed the MC-L chassis as a solution to Class A customer needs,” said Jonathan Randall, director of sales and marketing for FCCC. “Working in conjunction with body builders, we designed and engineered the MC-L chassis to enable the manufacture of more fuel efficient and aerodynamic motorhomes, while offering customers a durable, reliable and maneuverable option.”

Coaches sit lower to the ground with the MC-L’s low-profile frame rail, increasing aerodynamics and ride quality. Also, the quieter front-engine diesel allows for a more comfortable ride for passengers. The MC-L has a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 18,000 pounds.

Damon Motor Coach is building its new Avanti motorcoach on the FCCC MC-L chassis and is showcasing the model here at the National RV Trade Show at the Kentucky Exposition Center. According to independent testing results by Damon, the Avanti is 70 percent more fuel-efficient than any other Class A gas model. With the addition of the FCCC MC-L chassis, the entire Damon diesel fleet is now exclusively built upon FCCC chassis.

“We’ve been working with FCCC for several years,” said Matt Thompson, vice president and general manager of Damon Motor Coach. “We chose to work with FCCC because they consistently respond to our needs. Meanwhile, the MC-L chassis’s design will prove to be beneficial to our customers.”

Motorhome retailers and end-users have access to FCCC’s extensive network of service locations and dealer support programs. The MC-L has a three-year/50,000-mile limited warranty, leading the RV industry in both coverage and service.

The MC-L joins the FCCC full lineup of motorhome chassis, including the XC chassis family, FRED chassis and ecoFRED chassis. The MC-L is now available for order. Visit www.freightlinerchassis.com for more information.

Are you sure about the horse power rating? My 5.9 L Dodge 3/4 ton has 325 hp. In my experience, 10 hp/ft is a good recommendation for traversing hills and entering freeways.
