PUEBLO, Colo. -- Timothy McGettigan, professor of sociology at Colorado State University, writes in OpEdNews that instead of taking a traditional family vacation, he and his wife and two daughters rented an RV and made arrangements to volunteer at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah.
McGettigan writes that Best Friends is a preserve set in Utah's southern red rocks region. Volunteers care for horses, dogs, cats, bunnies, and even pot-bellied pigs that have gone through their share of tough times.
