Navistar presents Chicago's "Move for the Kids" run/walk

CHICAGO, Ill. -- Children's Memorial Hospital is inviting the Chicago community to help celebrate its historic move to a new location by participating in a special fundraising event, Move for the Kids 5K Run/Walk, presented by Navistar, on May 12, beginning at 8 a.m.

Thousands of runners and walkers are expected at the event, which will trace a 3.1 mile path from the hospital's current location in Lincoln Park to the new Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago downtown. The event also will serve as an opportunity for participants to say good-bye to the Lincoln Park facility, where many children and families have had their lives transformed through the superior pediatric healthcare provided by compassionate physicians, nurses and other care providers at the hospital.

After the run/walk, participants will be among the first to tour Lurie Children's, located at 225 E. Chicago Avenue, before it officially opens. A Community Open House starts immediately after the run/walk, with tours running continuously until 5 p.m. Runners and walkers will enjoy a post-event celebration in Lake Shore Park and share in memories of the past and the promise of a brighter future for children that the new hospital heralds.

Sullivan, President of Children's Memorial Foundation. "We're proud of the hospital's 130-year history of serving critically ill kids. We are even prouder to be taking pediatric health care to a whole new level through our new state-of-the-art medical facility."

Move for the Kids is sponsored by presenting sponsor Navistar and lead sponsors Walgreen's and Kohl's Cares.
