CHARLOTTETOWN, Prince Edward Island -- Kevin Jenkins, director of corporate services for the Department of Tourism and Culture, said there is no intent to sell provincial run campgrounds, but the Prince Edward Island government is open to leasing the campgrounds at Green Park and Cabot Park to the private sector if the plan is acceptable, reports The Guardian Charlottetown.
The Guardian Charlottetown reports that Barry Balsom, president of the Green Park Development Corporation, has criticized the province for not informing his group about plans to bring the private sector into the campgrounds.
Jenkins said his department has expressed that they will have to go to some kind of a public process before they consider signing any kind of agreement. He also made it clear that the government has no intention to sell off any park land, reports The Guardian Charlottetown.
