JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. -- The Jekyll Island Campground is better equipped today for medical emergencies than it was last winter, reports the Brunswick News. The newspaper explains that's because a group of around 112 campers, who spend their winters on Jekyll to escape northern snow, chipped in to buy an automatic external defibrillator valued at $3,000. Jekyll Island Fire Chief Jason Richardson told the Brunswick News the AED can save the life of someone having a cardiac arrest or other medical event.
