HAMPSTEAD, N.C. -- When the temperature drops, instead of turning up a thermostat, Hampstead resident John McGinnis depends on heat from an electric blanket to keep warm while he sleeps outside in a tent, reports StarNewsOnline.com.
He told StarNewsOnline.com that a notice from county officials left him homeless and with no other choice.
According to the news report, McGinnis, 55, lived for about four years in a camper, but shortly before Thanksgiving McGinnis received notice from the county that he was in violation of a zoning rule regarding living in travel trailers.
