MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Ocean Lakes Family Campground announced today it will host the Horry County Museum's 18th Annual Quilt Gala Feb. 24 and 25.
Anyone from the public may enter a quilt and participate in the competition. The quilts will be voted on by gala attendees and are not judged or juried.
The Quilt Gala was first held in 1994 on the greens of the old county courthouse and hosted by the Horry County Museum. At the time, it featured only 40 quilts. Now, the event features more than 200 quilts and is held during a two-day period. The event takes place at the Ocean Lakes Family Campground Recreation Center.
In addition to various fabrics and supplies that will be for sale, the 18th Annual Quilt Gala will feature: door prizes, hand quilting demonstrations, lectures, Horry County Museum challenge quilts, and a special exhibit by the Fiber Fanatics, a local fiber arts guild.
