TUCSON, Ariz. -- Fred Eaglesmith is crisscrossing the country three or four times this year with his Traveling Steam Show, and is currently making his way to Tucson to play a Rhythm & Roots show Saturday night. He lives in his tour bus and happily parks in RV parks or Walmart parking lots with his entourage, writes the Arizona Daily Star.
The Canadian alt-country roots rocker is having a blast nearly 40 years after launching his career in Canada. He said for the last two or three years, they've been living on the road more like gypsies and less like rock stars, reports the Arizona Daily Star.
And as part of that lifestyle, Eaglesmith cooks most meals and uses used vegetable oil to power his bus. And every once in awhile, when they have a day off, he'll throw a free concert at the RV park then pass the hat for donations, writes the Arizona Daily Star.
"It's unbelievable. ... We make almost as much as we do when we play a show," he said.
