IUKA, Miss. -- SunHerald.com reports that the U.S. Department of the Interior is providing $802,560 for the addition of 20 transient boating slips at J.P. Coleman State Park marina near Iuka, Miss.
Park officials told the Daily Corinthian that the marina hopes to attract larger boats, writes SunHerald.com.
"Right now, the state park just has the smaller docks," said Gary Matthews, director of the Tishomingo County Development Foundation. "These are designed for the much bigger boats that we're seeing on Pickwick Lake. Most of these people are making the great circuit from the Great Lakes to the Gulf of Mexico. It's something that should bring more visitors to the area."
