SHELTON, Conn. -- Roughly 2,400 children suffer electrical injuries each year from incidents involving electrical outlets and receptacles.

As a result, the 2008 National Electrical Code requires all new modular housing and park model RVs built to Recreational Park Trailer Industry Association (RPITA) standards that use self contained devices (SCDs) to use tamper-resistant SCD receptacles and outlets.

Highly conscious of consumer safety, Wirecon Tamper-Resistant SCD Receptacles from Hubbell have a built-in shutter system that prevents a foreign object from touching the blade contacts if inserted into a slot.Highly conscious of consumer safety, Wirecon Tamper-Resistant SCD Receptacles from Hubbell have a built-in shutter system that prevents a foreign object from touching the blade contacts if inserted into a slot.

Designed for fast and reliable terminations, Wirecon SCDs are completely insulated, do not require a separate outlet box and have an extended frame to minimize air infiltration. Wirecon's TR series is available in Decorator and Conventional designs, as well as 15- and 20-amp single and duplex receptacles with matching wall plates.

Wirecon offers a complete line of tamper-resistant SCDs, ground fault receptacles, traditional receptacles and switches. It also offers standard and snap-on wall plates to satisfy new construction requirements.

Hubbell's Wirecon Tamper-Resistant SCDs start at under $5. They can be supplied along with everyday-use plugs, receptacles, connectors and switches used for routine maintenance and repair.
