Lawsuit filed against Ford and Navistar over diesel engine problems
By Kelly Cauthorn @ 1:04 PM :: :: 10 Comments :: Article Rating :: RV Industry

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- After alleged problems with a 6.0-liter diesel engine sold in Ford models from 2003 to 2006, a class-action lawsuit has been filed in the U.S. District Court in South Carolina against Ford Motor Co. and Navistar Inc., reported the Herald-Journal.

Similar suits have been filed in North Carolina and Maine.

The suit alleges breach of expressed and implied warranty on Ford's behalf, along with negligence and negligent misrepresentation, and unjustly profiting from a malfunctioning product.

Ford and Navistar, the manufacturer of the engine, are in an ongoing battle over who is to blame.

The vehicles with questionable engines are used for business purposes, with regular repairs hurting bottom lines.

The suit seeks financial damages and attorneys' fees.

I would really like to know who the law firm is handling this issue as I believe there are thousands of us who bought these lemon motors and our trucks values are not holding due to the poor mechanical history of the 6.0 diesel. This needs to be a nation wide class action suit and Ford/Navistar need to refund a large portion of what they charged us for this bad motor.

We just had to pay $18,418.90 for a new 6.0 diesel engine for 2006 Ford F250 truck. Warrenty ran out 10 1/2 wks before the engine locked down at 80,000 miles. Would like to know who is handling the lawsuit. Ford wouldn't even talk to us.

Received papers from Settlement Administrator in the mail yesterday. Apparantly they are only allowing folks who were within warrenty and didn't have to fork out over $18,000 for a new(rebult) engine with only 80,000 miles and 10 1/2 weeks out of five year warrenty...this is wrong....where can we get help? Anyone know? Thanks

Susan,

I would love to get my hands on a copy of that proposed settlement. If there is a way to scan the papers and e-mail them to editor@rvdailyreport.com or fax them to 708.221.7175, I would be grateful.

I received the same notice....I'm planning to exclude myself from the suite because it does not come remotely close in covering my out of pocket repair expenses and lost vehicle value. Looks like a win for Ford and the lawyers and big time loss for Ford loyal customers. I'm wondering did all owners receive this notice??
